Aligned on the western coast of the southernmost region of India lies the pristine land named Kerala blessed with its unique topography, art and culture. The land is a treasure trove of art forms from modern to the ancient dance dramas and other traditional art forms which are preserved to a great extent without letting time transform them but making them rich treasures that stand as a window to the many periods in India’s cultural history. In many of the traditional performing art forms of the region, there is direct link with Natyasastra, one of the earliest and comprehensive treatises on Indian dramaturgy which could have been coded even before 3rd century BC. We present to you the many rich and colorful art forms of Kerala some of which are ritualistic, some entertaining but almost all of which are spiritually elevating with various Rasas for Aswadan. |
